Ever since zero percent introductory annual percentage rate (intro APR) credit cards were introduced to the American market several years ago, they've been very popular. All types of consumers have been taking advantage of 0% offers. Most consumers use 0% deals to save money by avoiding interest charges on their credit card debt, while other money-savvy consumers use 0% offers to make money by playing the 0% credit card arbitrage game (also known as "stoozing.") Many 0% credit card offers come with a catch: you have to pay a fee for transferring a balance. There are, however, a few select credit card products out there where you don't have to pay a fee for the first or initial balance transfer.Feeless, 0% intro APR balance transfer deals -- perhaps the most sought-after 0% deals on the Internet -- are a dying breed. Dying, but not dead. The pool of banks that offer feeless 0% deals has been shrinking. Why? Because the banks and credit card companies know that by eliminating the balance transfer transaction fee, a balance transfer "surfer" can transfer a credit card balance to a card, sit out the interest-free period, then transfer the balance out to a new 0% deal -- thus denying the bank any opportunity to make money off the surfer.   The balance transfer transaction fee gives a bank the opportunity to get at least something out of the deal. The Discover More family of credit cards, offered by Discover Financial Services (DFS), has been exceedingly popular for transferring credit card balances. Why? Because, heretofore, with any Discover More card, you could transfer a credit card balance and pay no interest on the transferred funds for 12 months, with no balance transfer transaction fee. But that's not all: with Discover More, you could (and still can) get a 0% rate on new credit card purchases for 12 months to boot. It's no wonder that the Discover More family of credit cards has been a top-ranked collection of credit cards at many top-rated websites. But DFS recently made a change to the terms and conditions associated with the Discover More family of credit cards: you now have to pay a fee for transferring a balance; the minimum transfer fee is $10.   The Discover More group of cards still offers great value, with a 0% intro APR rate on both balance transfers and new purchases for one year, but the nascent balance transfer transaction fee may turn off some folks out there in the market for a hot, 0% credit card deal.OK, now for the good news: Citi®, American Express®, Bank of America® and Pulaski Bank still offer consumer credit cards where you can transfer a balance at zero percent for 6 or 12 months (depending on the card) and pay no balance transfer fee. Furthermore, Citi® and CitiBusiness® have business credit cards that provide an option to transfer balances at 0% without charging a transaction fee.If you plan on hunting (or continuing your hunt) for an attractive 0% credit card deal after reading this article, remember two things: In your search for "no fee balance transfer" 0% deals, you may find articles, blog posts or other website content with claims that feeless 0% deals no longer exist.   Don't buy it. Feeless 0% balance transfer offers can still be found today -- even with certain business credit cards -- if you know where to look. Credit card deals are constantly evolving, so if you're planning on signing up for a specific 0% offer that you've had your eye on for a while, try not to drag your heels. The sexy, feeless balance transfer offer you find today may be gone tomorrow. Thankfully, the selection of "no fee" 0% balance transfer deals is still quite healthy, so you don't have to panic if the offer you wanted disappears.

There is a firestorm of negative press regarding LookSmart's recent marketing stumbles via numerous discussion groups, including two of the oldest and most influential, I-Search and I-Advertising Digests. Most of the critiques center on LookSmart's inability to develop viable programs for SMB/SME ('small to medium business or enterprise'), the difficulty in managing their new pay per click 'Small Business Listings' advertising program, and their overall lack of customer service responsiveness. Many of us in the agency/marketing services world relied upon LookSmart's directory in the early days; especially as an offset to Yahoo's 'my way or the highway' attitude when they became the 200 pound gorilla in the marketplace So, it's sad to say, but LookSmart appears to be morphing to just another portal with little marketing awareness of how to work effectively with the tens of millions of SMB companies that have rapidly embraced a web-centric business model. Their overall terms of services are geared for big companies and their SMB programs appear to be an afterthought at best! One of the core issues that frustrates many small businesses is the difficulty in getting a listing that actually describes their company, products, and/or services accurately - to add insult to injury, you have to pay in some cases twice to have your listing upgraded.   Apparently, LookSmart's editorial staff can't keep up with the demand, or is so pressured to maintain some internal quota their descriptions suffer accordingly.LookSmart's new Small Business Listings program is simply not 'small business friendly.' It is a complex program with lots of important details buried in an FAQ and there are some 'gotchas' in the small print - including being forced to wait up to 90 days for the return of the upfront deposit of $150. and paying a setup fee for a listing; but having it deactivated when you exceed the dollar amount of your 'monthly click limit.' I can understand their dropping the listing once you exceed your budget, but it does not seem equitable to charge $49. to setup the listing in the first place - your in essence subsidizing LookSmart's cost of doing business. We've found inconsistencies in LookSmart's stated Privacy program versus inbound e-mail traffic we've received from them over the past 3-6 months. We've unsubscribed 3-4 times and still keep getting self-promotional marketing materials which are not of any value, other than promoting LookSmart's business.   They are clearly not adhering to their stated privacy policy and to compound matters, our complaints have not been addressed via their customer service department. So, if your an SMB company what are your alternatives to working with LookSmart? We would recommend your assessing Google's new 'AdWords Select' program which is geared more for business of all sizes; but, I must warn you there is some complexity in setting up this type of program as well. But, you certainly get much more coverage with Google - their rapidly becoming the dominant search engine du jour with approximately 40% market share of all combined searches.Inktomi's 'Search Submit' program should also be assessed as an alternative to working with LookSmart and as an adjunct to an existing Search Engine or Marketing program. They have partnered with some of the same companies that LookSmart is working with, including MSN, AOL, iWon, and many others. They offer very good value for the incurred costs, charging a nominal fee $39. for the first URL and $25. for additional URLs to have your web site 'crawled' (assessed or indexed) on a regular basis for one year and sharing this information with the most heavily used search engines on the web.   Finally, you may want to consider utilizing standard pay per click ('PPC') search engines to drive qualified traffic to your web site and/or looking at competitive PPC programs offered by LookSmart's competitors including Yahoo, AOL, Alta Vista and others. Overture (formerly GoTo) is the dominant market leader in the pure PPC market that can deliver a great deal of traffic. But, there are approximately 150 second tier pay per click search engines available for assessment and you should be able to leverage your marketing costs by carefully analyzing your 'keyword buys' via some of these PPC search engines including Kanoodle, FindWhat, Sprinks and many others.

There are distinct objectives to consider when trying to choose a career, including knowing yourself, knowing your options, knowing how you constitute decisions and addressing any barriers to your decision-making.  Effective career decision-making requires an abundance of work and energy; this is necessary to establish some degree of satisfaction with your career choice. One such career that has emerged as fulfilling, provocative, well paying and in demand is medical transcription. The employment of medical transcriptionists is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2012. A growing and aging population will spur demand for medical transcription services.Basically, a medical transcriptionist listens to dictated recordings made by a healthcare professional, and transcribes them into medical reports, correspondence, and other administrative info.   While listening to the recordings, using pause techniques, sentences are keyed into a word processor, editing as necessary for grammar and clarity. Documents produced include discharge summaries, history and physical examination reports, operative reports, consultation reports, autopsy reports, diagnostic imaging studies, progress notes, and referral letters. These are returned to the health care provider for review, signature, or correction. These documents eventually become part of the patients' permanent files, in addition to required insurance documentation. To understand and accurately transcribe dictated reports into a format that is clear and intelligible for the reader, medical transcriptionists must understand medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments.   As a result, medical transcriptionists should have completed postsecondary training in medical transcription, offered by many vocational schools, community colleges, and distance-learning programs. Completion of a 2-year associate degree or 1-year certificate program, including coursework in anatomy, medical terminology, legal issues relating to healthcare documentation, and English grammar and punctuation, is highly recommended, but not always required.Working conditions are generally comfortable settings, such as hospitals, physicians' offices, transcription service offices, clinics, laboratories, medical libraries, government medical facilities, or at home. Many medical transcriptionists work from home as employees for hospitals, and transcription services or as self-employed, independent contractors.   The average salary for a medical transcriptionist is between $10.87 and $15.63. With experience, medical transcriptionists can advance to supervisory positions, home-based work, editing, consulting, or teaching. With the increased demand for standardized records, there will be rapid employment growth in offices of physicians or other health practitioners, especially in large group practices. Medical transcription is a career that should fit your lifestyle, and bring you prosperity, and fulfillment.

Museums are places where collections are preserved and displayed. Visiting a museum is a terrific opportunity to learn more about art, science, technology, industry and our favorite hobbies and collectibles. Many museums offer educational programs, newsletters, libraries and guided tours to help visitors have a better understanding of the collections. Museum exhibits teach us all about the world we live in. We may not be able to travel the world in search of treasures for our own collections. When we visit a museum we can enjoy collectibles and other objects which have been gathered from every part of the world. How did museums start? The word "museum" comes from the Greek word mouseion, which means "temple of the Muses." The Muses were goddesses of the arts whose lives were removed from the cares of everyday life.   One of the first mouseion's was founded in Alexandria, Egypt in the 3rd century B.C. Every sort of information which was of interest to scholars was collected. Scholars lived and did their research there. On display were objects of art, instruments used in astronomy and surgery, elephant tusks and the hides of unusual animals. The Museum of Alexandria would today be known as a museum for scientific research. In the Middle Ages, cathedral treasuries and monasteries stored collections of ornamented objects such as cups and goblets which were used during the celebration of mass and book covers and treasures which were relics of saints or martyrs. The public could only visit during special holy days or for the feast day of the patron saint of the church. It was during the Renaissance that princes and noble families in Europe took a renewed interest in art and history.   Many treasures were collected; objects made of gold, silver and other precious metals. Curiosities and objects from faraway places were collected. Wealthy families took great pride in collecting beautiful possessions. Private collections could be found all across Europe. From Denmark to Italy these private museos were visited by scholars, artists and other important people who were traveling the continent. Some of these same treasures can still be seen in the galleries of museums today. It wasn't until the 19th century that buildings were specifically designed as museums. Before that time, churches, monasteries, palaces, or state buildings that no longer served as their original purpose were used as museums. One of the first buildings in Europe planned as a museum was the Altes (OLD) Museum in Berlin, Germany.   It was built in 1830. The first children's museum was organized by the Brooklyn Museum in New York in 1899. Today hundreds of museums designed especially for children can be found all around the world. Many have programs where children can make their own models and crafts, touch artifacts or dinosaur bones. Some museums are devoted especially to hobbies and collectibles. All over the world hobbyists share their treasures and collections. The Internet is a convenient way to travel the world and visit these special collections from across the globe.Related Internet Resources:http:/ oyscollectibles.allinfo-about.com/features/museum1.html

Currently under development at the Microsoft research labs in Cambridge, England, the new webcam, i2i consists of two lenses, which carefully follows an individual's movement.  Using an exclusively developed algorithm to cleverly blend what each lens is seeing, resulting in the creation of an accurate stereo "cylopean" image. All very technical, but for the 18.5 million people (source Microsoft) who regularly use webcams while they are using instant messengers, i2i means that it will appear as if users are looking into each others eyes. Antonio Criminisi, lead researcher of Microsoft's Machine Learning and Perception Group, said.   "We were able to come up with an algorithm that was able to take two images and capture a corresponding map in 3D.  Using this powerful technology, we can now synthetically create an image as if the person is looking straight into your eyes."According to Dr Criminisi, the biggest challenge for the backroom boys at Microsoft was in calculating how the visual brain works.  In particular, how it sees and sorts out colors, shapes and distances."Essentially, what we have done is replace human eyes with cameras and the human brain with a computer."The real magic behind this technology is the newly developed stereo algorithm, which makes it possible to accurately reconstruct a 3D, geometric image in real time and on a standard computer.   Fundamentally, this is the same technology which was used to recreate the stunning 3D images of the Martian surface, which were beamed back by the NASA rover. With the ability to generate realistic looking background images in order that users can pretend they are somewhere other than where they really are!  Commenting, Dr Criminisi said."This is important for privacy, as I may not want you to see how untidy my bedroom is."A feature likely to capture the teens market is that of Smart Icons.  Instead of typing in the usual pictorial emotion e.g. Smiley  i2i can superimpose free floating, 3D ones which can then be instructed to float freely around a person's head or anywhere else for that matter.   While Dr Criminisi admits there are still issues to iron out before the project is passed on to Microsoft Development, he is pleased with what has been achieved in under two years.  Dr Criminisi's team is already experimenting with code which enables users to create their own wrap-around avatar, 3D face and then have it move as if it were their own.

Are you tired of putting time, energy and money into mortgage broker marketing just to end up with an agent that never seems to follow through? Let us say you meet with an agent and feel like you have made a connection. But weeks go by without hearing from that agent. You make follow up calls, it all sounds good, but the agent still does not call, return your calls, or send you clients. What is going on?It sounds like you have just encountered the passive Realtor. A passive Realtor can be incredibly frustrating. But rather than giving up on them, or throwing your valuable time and energy away, by understanding their behavior style, you can develop a positive relationship. Why They Seem PassiveWhen you encounter an agent that seems passive, you are really meeting someone who struggles with change. They want to have a stable environment with few or no problems. They perceive any change to be stressful, so they are often willing to continue to work with someone who offers inferior service, simply because they are uncomfortable with working with someone new.   These agents are especially uncomfortable with confrontation. They will go to great lengths to avoid it. They appear to buy in to working with you, but you may not be uncovering their true objection because they go along with anything.Realtors that are passive also avoid fast decision making. They want to take time to evaluate decisions and mull them over for days or months. When you are working at your mortgage broker marketing, this can be frustrating. It feels like you are investing your time without receiving a timely pay out.Misunderstanding Passive RealtorsOne of the chief problems with working with passive agents is that you take their passivity, their desire to avoid confrontation and general friendliness,as a buy in. You may think you are making progress, when in reality you are not getting anywhere or the agent needs time to process.Be realistic in your expectations when working with these clients. If they already have a strong relationship with a mortgage broker, chances are they will not jump into another relationship with a broker immediately.   It may be a long courtship before you gain their loyalty. On the positive side, passive agents are great to work with when it comes to unexpected glitches. They can easily empathize with problems that happen and are not likely to go ballistic. And, once you establish a relationship with them, you can count on them to remain loyal.Communicating More EffectivelyWhen focusing your mortgage broker marketing on this type of real estate agent, you need to pursue your relationship differently from other agents. It is best to incorporate a slow, friendly strategy, with lots of small talk and focus on feelings. You are more likely to get their attention when you present information gently and then use a questioning technique to draw out their feelings or problems. Passive agents seek out a relationship; they want a feeling of personal attention, problem solving and excellent customer service. They also want proof of your performance, which can be supported by customer testimonial.   The Good NewsWhile wooing a passive agent can feel like a lengthy process, on the positive side, they are great team players. They expend effort to make their client relationships positive. They are the agents that are willing to go the extra mile for clients. These positive relationships trickle over to your business, resulting in a repeats and referrals. When you understand how to create a positive environment that is not threatening to the Realtor, you establish a productive and positive relationship. Tailoring your mortgage broker marketing to these Realtors result in a loyal partnership with big pay offs.

One of the key factors in a successful business is to know what your customers or clients are thinking - about your business, your products, your services. As a business owner, you'll get feedback from your current customers just in the course of day-to-day business. But the results can be skewed by the interaction itself, and so most business owners find it useful to allow their customers to answer questions anonymously. And that's where surveys come in.Some businesses hire market research firms to survey their customers or target customers. For new or smaller businesses, this can be an expensive proposition, and it's helpful to have a set of resources in your tool box that offer the option of conducting your own surveys. Here are some great online resources you can use for surveys. They range from the simplest polls which you can create and place on your web site to much more elaborate options. Many of them allow the survey respondents to see the results from themselves and others as soon as they complete the survey. Some of these companies offer a set of services for free as well as more powerful paid services; others offer free 30-day trials of their most robust services. Some are geared towards smaller businesses, other towards large enterprises with thousands of employees.   There's also a wide range of continuum between letting you design and add your own surveys to your web site, versus having them create a survey, find your target market, query them, and report back the results.1. SurveyMonkey - If you have a large mailing list or want to send a lot of surveys, the best deal here is the professional subscription. For $19.95 month, you can send an unlimited number of surveys and receive up to 1000 responses per month. 2. Zoomerang - I love their slogan, "Easiest way to ask, fastest way to know." Offers a basic product (free) plus paid packages geared to education, non-profit, and a professional version, which can send surveys in several languages, and has no limit on the number of responses you can receive. 3. SnapPoll - Simple site which offers you an easy way to put a one-question survey on your web site and receive results. Requires no sign-up, allows you to customize colors for the form, and prevent multiple "votes" from the same person. Free - supported by what they call "non-obtrusive advertising." 4. PHP Form Generator - This is a free survey generator that is written as open source code. You can choose as many questions as you'd like - in any format - check, text, drop-downs, etc.) You do have to create your own stats, but it's a fairly simple procedure for small surveys.   5. OneMinutePoll - Software - available at a yearly subscription price - that teaches you how to write surveys correctly to find out what your customers want, so you can provide it to them! Software automates your polls, generates code for your web page, and allows you to see results in real-time. 6. Advanced Survey - Free and paid services that offer both web page surveys and email surveys (where you invite participants - via email - to take a survey). You can ask multiple questions in one survey, and can ask yes/no questions, open-ended text questions, customizable number scales (Pick a number from 1 to 10 with 10 being best, for example), and multiple choice. 7. Question Pro - Very sophisticated system for surveying customers. Has predesigned templates for common surveys: Customer Satisfaction, New Product/Concept Testing, Product Surveys, Conference Feedback, and more. These surveys can also be designed with "branching," where the answer to one question is used in a subsequent question. No free options here, but there is a 30-day free trial. 8. Relevant Tools - This company offers custom web forms with automatic email response for as little as $10/month for a basic membership, which includes up to 500 database records and up to 500 email messages/month.   9. HotScripts - A great resource for programmers and webmasters. It has a host of scripts in various programming languages and is constantly being updated by programmers from around the world. If you search on "surveys," you'll find lots of scripts in lots of programming languages you can use. 10.NetReflector - Offers a very sophisticated self-serve solution for the do-it-yourselfer, and assisted and automated solutions for companies who need to survey customers and/or employees worldwide on a regular basis. Offers webinars, articles, and other resources on creating the invitation, the importance of regular surveys, and using online technologies for surveys. So whether you're querying current clients and customers, a potential target market, vendors, or employees, these online surveys can provide valuable tools for smart business owners. You can set up and monitor your surveys or pay someone to do it for you, but online surveys are a great way for you to gain information. The results may surprise you, or send you in a new direction you hadn't thought of. But one thing's for sure; if you don't ask your customers, clients, or employees, they probably won't tell!
