And we looked pretty darn snazzy in our rainbow hues of Nike Free Run 3 trainers! We were rewarded for our short but super-steep jog with some super-cool breakdancers-slash-bass jumpers and then we hit up a theme park opened after hours just for us! The next morning, we headed to the beach, to try out our trainers on the sand - needless to say our Nike Free Run 3 were much more capable than us when it came to beach running...but hey, what a great leg work-out! We cooled down by jumping aboard a fleet of Nike boats, and enjoyed the views of Barcelona from the sea. Once back on dry land we jumped onto some very cute city bikes and went for a ride along the wide Spanish streets, all the way to Nike's Barcelona HQ. Here we had a snoop around the latest range of trainers and training gear. Even after body-crushing on Nike's sporty mannequins (check out those abs!), we managed to chow down on a seriously slap up meal in the Nike office gardens. We could really get used to this! We got an interesting insight into Nike's long and colourful history, before heading off to dinner and waving goodbye to our beautiful Barcelona views. I've never really considered myself a fitness fanatic or a pageant-type person. But I was drawn into a competition that involves quite a bit of both. For the past 3? months, I've been training for a fitness competition, which involves showing off a good body tone and poise all while wearing a tiny bikini. At 31, I was at a point where I wanted to take my fitness to the next level. I had done boot camps, kettlebell classes and competed in a Spartan obstacle race. But I marveled at the women in my exercise classes who were in fitness contests because their confidence grew as they transformed their bodies. I wanted to see if I was up to the challenge of the physical training and strict diet involved in preparing for competition. I started training for the Fitness Atlantic competition in January, squeezing in workouts and posing classes before and after my job as a Wall Street Journal reporter. Fitness Atlantic, which takes place on April 13 in Wallingford, Conn., is a regional fitness show run by World Beauty Fitness & Fashion Inc. of Toronto. Fitness shows started to grow around the late '90s and are aimed at a more mainstream audience than those at strictly bodybuilding events. WBFF started in 2007 with one show and 63 participants. The company plans to run 25 shows this year. Fitness Atlantic has about 160 participants, most of whom are female, says Brian Cannone, a WBFF regional director. These competitions have a variety of categories, such as traditional bodybuilding, figure, which emphasizes muscle tone¡ªnot size¡ªand bikini, which is the "softest" look, similar to what you see in a female fitness magazine. I'm competing in this category, which judges women based on their figure, body tone and poise. Competitors do a spotlight walk, where they strut on stage, do three front poses and three back poses¡ªonce in a bikini and once in an evening gown. Then they stand in a line so judges can compare everyone to each other. Judges make note of everything from how a competitor's swimsuit fits, to how fast she's walking and how toned she is. My personal trainer, Malenna Saunders, who helped me get into shape for my wedding in the fall, suggested the competition. Ms. Saunders, who owns Phoenyx Fitness in New York, had competed in several fitness competitions and coaches a 32-member team called the Elite Heat, which helps women learn to lead a healthy lifestyle and prepare for these shows. "You had a nice foundation from getting ready for the wedding," she said. "So we could build from there." The Workout

Parkour is a self-directed sport,Nike Free Run+ 2 but there are a few fundamental moves that are used in its physical application. When combined with the proper amount of preliminary physical training, and mental dexterity, these moves can help anyone approach physical obstacles with cat like reflexes. Parkour includes vaulting, running, rolling and jumping, but the most basic move is knowing how to correctly land. Overcoming obstacles with efficiency also means doing so without getting hurt. How someone lands will determine the amount of injury they could sustain. Because of this, proper mechanics in landing is extremely important to the sport. When landing in parkour land on the toes and balls of the feet rather than flat footed. As the toes hit the ground, bend the knees. This will ensure a balanced landing with minimal injury to the knees or feet. Proper balance in landing is important, but since parkour often occurs at high heights, proper balance while moving is also needed. When Nike Free Run 3 running, always run on the crest of the obstacle. A popular basic move using this is the cat crawl, a quadrupedal (four limb-ed) movement that looks similar to a cat running across a ledge. Vaulting is a standard of parkour movements, and within the practice there are many different variations. Unlike the sport of pole vaulting, parkour vaulting does not use any outside apparatus to lift the body over an obstacle. For this sport, vaulting is done only with the hands. The basic vault is performed by Nike Free Run Dame running toward an obstacle and using one hand to push the body over that obstacle. Variations on the basic vault include different ways to approach the obstacle, but most of them end in one hand pushing the body over it. Some basic vault variations include the turn vault and speed vault. Another vault is sometimes considered a hop. Because the pop vault uses the feet to initially step off and immediately up a wall it looks like a very high hop. Once momentum is used to vault up the wall, the hands are used to pull the body over it it. This vault provides a faster and more efficient method of scaling a wall, but it requires significant body strength. Parkour also includes a whole lot of jumping. Some jumps, like the running (gap) jump, are meant for horizontal movements, while others are intended for vertical movements.Nike Free Run Many vertical jumps are combined with vaults or muscle ups (similar to a pull up) to by pass an obstacle. An arm jump is a movement that lands on the side of an obstacle hanging by the arms. From this position, the body can use the arm to muscle up over the obstacle. It is also sometimes called the cat leap or cat grab. The wall jump, however, uses the feet to jump up the side of an obstacle to gain height. It is the basis of the pop vault. It also gives the appearance of running up the side of a wall, if done between two parallel obstacles. The goal of the wall jump is to reach enough height to eventually grab or jump over the obstacle. If you are not landing, jumping, running or vaulting in parkour, you are probably rolling. Like the landing, the roll is a parkour movement designed to minimize injury. It has its origins in martial arts and is often used to minimize the impact from a gap jump. To perform a roll, roll forward with the hands, then arms and finally, back hitting the ground. The movement will slow the body down from a gap jump, and is a safer landing then the standard bent knee landing. Because of what it does, the roll is sometimes called a break-fall. All of Nike Free Outlet basic moves are designed to help those practicing parkour overcome physical obstacles in the most efficient way, while maintaining safety. They are physically challenging to do, but if someone begins with low obstacles and gradually increases the difficulty of the obstacles, even the elementary moves will also become more difficult and fun to execute. |
